LEADERSHIP
Values: In an every-changing world, core values
are constant, they are fundamental beliefs of
a person. Core values are not descriptions of
the work we do or the strategies we employ to
accomplish our mission. These values underlie
our work, how we interact with each other and
members of our community and form the basis
of our decision-making. These three beliefs and
values guide and inspire us in all we say and do;
we will continually internalize and model these
core values:
0
Integrity: Honest and ethical behavior in all
we do; our actions will match our words.
0
Courage: Selfless devotion to duty; taking
action in the face of danger and holding
ourselves and our peers to the highest
ethical standards.
0
Service: Providing respectful service to
all, realizing that we achieve more through
partnerships. Our motto “To Serve and
Protect” is not just a slogan—it is our way
of life.
Guiding Principles: Our agency’s guiding
principles are the strategies that we apply to
accomplish our mission. They describe the
manner in which our organization accomplishes
its mission. These two guiding principles are how
we meet the demands of our mission:
0
Innovation: Innovation is encouraged to
create a learning organization that will grow
and develop new and innovative practices
to accomplish our mission.
0
Teamwork: Teamwork is fostered in all
areas. We believe that solutions to crime
problems come from inside and outside
our organization. Establishing a variety of
partnerships is vital to the accomplishment
of our mission.
MUNDELEIN (ILLINOIS) POLICE

strives to provide the highest quality police

identify and help solve problems within the
community. The Mundelein Police Department
provides professional, knowledgeable, and
focused law enforcement services to ensure
the safety and well-being of all people, while
promoting individual responsibility and
community commitment. Our ocers work
with compassion and respect as we assist crime
victims and form partnerships to organize
strategies—which reduce crime, the fear of
crime and improve the quality of life. As we work
toward these goals we do so remembering: Our
greatest asset is our personnel; our greatest
strength is our partnership with the community.
Values: We as members of the Mundelein
Police Department are committed to these
values: integrity, pride, and quality of service.
Through these values we will maintain positive
relationships with all members of our organization
and the community we serve.
0
Integrity: We as an organization believe
that integrity is the foundation of
community trust. To accomplish this we
will be honest, consistent and ethical as we
interact with each other and the people we
serve, developing a partnership within the
community that maintains trust. We will be
role models for the community.
0
Pride: We as an organization believe
we must project a positive, professional
image of ourselves and the community
we serve. We will accomplish this through
teamwork, commitment, accountability,
and mutual cooperation.
