hoping to receive a $75,000 grant
from the Snohomish County Parks

improvements at Locust Creek Park.
These funds are available much like
the funding we secured from the
County when we constructed the
Skate facility within Brier Park.

Community Development
Spring is here and this is a great
season to get outdoors and spend
some time working in your yard. A
well maintained yard can increase the
attractiveness of your home as well as
your neighborhood. Be considerate of
your neighbors by removing weeds
and other invasive plants that can
spread throughout the neighborhood.
For more information about noxious
weeds and what you can do to help
visit the Snohomish County Noxious
Weed Control Board website:
http://www1.co.snohomish.wa.us/Dep
artments/Public_Works/Divisions/Ro
ad_Maint/Noxious_Weeds/
It is also neighborly to remove trash,
inoperable vehicles, and other debris
from your yard.
Please remember when cleaning up
your yard waste do not blow or sweep
lawn trimmings into the street.

Help Save Puget Sound
The Department of Ecology and the
City of Brier recommend washing all
vehicles on the grass in your yard, so
the pollutants filter out thru the soil,
or the best solution of all is to use the
local car wash. Washing vehicles,
boats and motor homes/campers on
driveways or other “hard” surfaces
lead to the wash water flowing down
the street and into the nearest storm
drain and into our local creeks, Lyon,
Scriber, Locust and Lost Lake by the
Cemetery. Please do your part to help
take care of our streams and
waterways.
By changing a few of the things we
do in our yards, with our cars, with
our dogs and in our homes, we can
help save Puget Sound at its source.
Visit www.pugetsoundstartshere.org
for more information.
Signage
It is a violation of Brier Municipal
Code to attach any type of signage
(yard sale, home for rent, etc) on
any traffic sign posts or utility poles.
Please refrain from doing this.
Inexpensive 1 x 2”s can be purchased
at most hardware stores, and don’t
forget to remove them once your
garage sale is over!

Wildlife Habitat Project
The Brier Wildlife Habitat Project is
calling for Brier residents to help
establish Brier as a Certified
Community Wildlife Habitat through
the National Wildlife Federation.
Brier will join Puget Sound
communities from Bellingham to
Tukwila to establish the first regional
wildlife habitat in the U.S. The goal
of community wildlife projects is to
improve habitat for beneficial wildlife
in individual yards, parks, schools and
businesses. Small changes to restore
habitat in our Brier community will
make a big difference for birds,
beneficial insects, furry creatures --
and humans!
Certifying your yard is easy. And you
will help Brier take one more step
toward its community certification.
Even a patio or balcony can provide a
wildlife habitat. Choose one or more
ways to meet each of the 5 habitat
requirements -- water, food, places for
cover, places to raise young and
sustainable gardening.
If you would like more information,
please log on to

Wildlife Habitat Project’s website: or
